CHILD PSYCHIATRY
Consultant child psychiatrists are qualified doctors who specialise in child and adolescent mental health and have undertaken an extensive clinical training. They can assess, treat and provide interventions in line with the classification of diseases (ICD-10) and can prescribe, monitor and review medical treatments. They can undertake valuable observations, risk assessments and are strong advocates for children and families.
They are highly skilled professionals who are strong clinical leaders. They examine a child’s difficulties with a focus on psychological, biological, emotional, genetic, social components of their presentation and form a detailed clinical opinion. They are very aware of different modalities of interventions and treatments, and are able to contribute and recommend suitable services to assist children to overcome and manage their difficulties with the family/carers being involved.
They are registered with the general medical council and go through a process of revaluation in line with the professional governing body. They keep updated with research and attend courses, conferences and workshops.
We work collaboratively with a highly skilled medical professional who has special interests and enhanced knowledge and experience of developmental disorders, neurodiversity, trauma and undertaking autism assessments.
